For the majority of week 17, I spent my time working on my Red dead inspired room from week 16.
I started by changing the texture from the walls into a wooden tile style to mimic slats which at first didn’t work but after some tweaking, i eventually got it to work. I followed the tutorial below and ended up with this result. I also used a boolean modifier to create the doorway. I believe that the wooden texture makes it feel much more realistic and really makes the area feel alive.
next I began adding the doors to the saloon. I went with the stereotypical saloon doors as I felt it would work best. I started by creating the first side and then mirroring them to make it easier for me to implement them.
Finally, i worked on the lighting of the room by updating the lamp to be a translucent shine by creating an emitter and a bloom effect from the light. I also changed the rendering from eevee to cycles to make the whole set feel more high resolution and alive. Overall, i think the build went quite well and I am proud of my accomplishment.
