Year 1 – Week 14

Question of the Day

what is 2D animation?

for me, 2D animation is a collage of moving pictures around 24 frames per second. combined into one video. it allows you to create things that are near impossible in the real world and can be done by almost anybody.

2d animation is an animation created in two dimensions. That is, the objects created in 2D are flat – they have only height and width  parameters, unlike 3D when objects appear in three dimensions, that is, like in real life.

For the first half of the lesson we began animating a ball bouncing. I managed to do it very quickly and then went onto more challenging ideas such as a fire. Below is my animations that I produced and turned into GIFs

Next, we experimented on different animation speeds with a dot. I chose three different speeds to test and see which one is the best. I believe that the spiral one was the best as it wasn’t as janky and felt smoother.

Next, we began creating an animated person walking. I went by creating a unique person that looked very much like a character from the game Among Us. I followed the frames that dom had set on teams and then reproduced them on my own work. Below is my creation.

Reflection

WWW: my ability to create and reproduce animated videos as well as my understanding of frames and what should suit it best.

EBI: I could improve on the walking animation by adding more frames and adding more detail such as items of clothing or more unique walking motion such as bouncing or leaping.

What have I learnt: Today I have learnt how to use adobe animate and how to create simple animations using the software.
