Year 1 – Week 12

For the entirety of Week 12, I focused on completing my 2D game using the assets and game kit that we were given. First I started by implementing the game outline as the background to allow me to understand what I have to work with. Next, I began creating the playeable area on the tilemap aswell as adding colliders so the area was actually physical and not just another image. Afterwards, I began adding moving platforms and the playeable character to the game which added more detail and finally I added the enemies as well as hostile environments to create a further challenge.

Once all the items were implemented, I began working on adapting some of the enemies and their features, I began by making it so that any contact from the creature would reset you back to the start which made the game more tactical when attacking and I linked the teleporters up so that they would work correctly and provide a shortcut.

Conclusion

WWW: My ability to create a unique and interesting 2D game experience.

EBI: I could add more levels to my game and add more challenges as I was unable to get the doors and keys to work properly.

When I checked my work on Friday to make sure it was ready to be submitted, I noticed that it had not saved properly and I had lost a couple lessons worth of progress. Because of This, I spent a few hours remaking the game and ensuring all the assets were completed and I even improved the game a bit by adding more detail to the game. Shown below is a photo of the finished game as well as a walkthrough video of the game.

After letting my parents test the game out they both agreed that I should give tips and hints within the game itself so the player could understand on what to do
